Notice: Mayor of Guildford’s Christmas Concert

The Mayor of Guildford’s Christmas Concert is one of the musical highlights of the town’s festive season and takes place this year at 7pm on Sunday, December 10 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford High Street.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Guildford, this annual concert is now in its 66th year and will once again feature Guildford’s Vivace Chorus, under the baton of their musical director Jeremy Backhouse, as well as seasonal readings by members of the choir.

Besides all the usual well-known hymns and carols, the Vivace Chorus will also be performing seasonal works by David Willcocks, John Rutter, Bob Chilcott and Will Todd.

Every year, the Mayor’s Concert attracts capacity audiences to Holy Trinity Church and raises much-needed funds for local charities, supported by the Mayor of Guildford during his mayoral year. The charity benefiting from this year’s Concert will be The Mayor of Guildford’s Local Distress Fund which provides assistance for local people, who struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis and who need the most basic items, which most of us just take for granted.

A retiring collection will also be taking place at the end of the concert for the Mayor’s personal chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £10 for adults and £6 for children under 12, and are available in advance from Guildford’s Tourist Information Centre at 155, High Street, Guildford; or by calling them on 01483-444334 or at the door.

Tickets can also be booked online at www.visitguildford.com.

Seasonal refreshments will be available during the concert’s interval.
