Have a free swim at Guildford Lido this Thursday morning (August 23) and take part in an event that is raising funds for Guildford Action.
The aim of the sponsored swim is that all those taking part contribute to swimming a collective total of 24 miles – a distance equal to that by those who swim the English Channel.
The swim is in memory of David Lucid, aged 51. He was a homeless man and was found with head injuries in Pannells Court, off Chertsey Street, Guildford, on August 7. He died of his injuries at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, on August 11. A good friend of Mr Lucid has organised the swim. He has recruited support from local businesses and hopes others will also help.
The swim takes place between 6am and 10am. You can go along and do five lengths, or more if you wish. You can make a donation to Guildford Action, a charity that helps homeless people, at the lido. For more details about the charity click here for its website.
If you wish to participate in the swim, you are asked to send an emil to Guildford Lido to confirm. Sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Alternatively, call Charlie McCafferty at Guildford Action on 01483 560003, for more details.
