The Guildford Institute is delighted at the level of support being shown by its membership for its redesign plans. In just four weeks, members have contributed over £22,000 to the £250,000 project, giving a welcome boost to the fundraising push.
The Institute is planning to reconfigure the interior of its Grade II listed building on Ward Street, Guildford, to improve access to the building and ensure its long-term viability as a thriving community provider in the centre of the town. The improvements will include installation of a new lift and main stairwell, as well as toilet facilities for disabled people..
Margaret Jack, a trustee of the Guildford Institute who is heading the fundraising campaign, said: “Adding the members donations to the contribution from our own reserves and the major grant we announced in April from SITA Trust, we are over half way there. We hope to start the project this autumn but to do this we need the support of not just our members but the many people who use the building, whether they come to our courses or are members of groups who meet in our building, as well as the wider Guildford community. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who wants to help.”
Everyone is welcome to go and see details of the building redesign plans at the Guildford Institute which is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.
